In 2009, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) teamed with THQ to produce, up to that point, the best mixed martial arts-based video game ever. “UFC Undisputed 2009” was followed by two sequels that upped the ante and danced with greatness. On the other end of the spectrum was Electronic Arts (EA) jumping into the cage with Strikeforce and creating “EA MMA” – a video game that many consider superior to the THQ offerings. THQ would eventually shut down, giving EA the chance to work with the UFC to make a video game that promised to provide the best of both worlds. It’s time for me to step into the octagon cage one more time to see if I can make a career for myself while discovering if EA created a game worth its intended legacy.
