Setback Sufferings

“Even the accomplished suffers setbacks sometimes. The more bitter the lessons, the greater the successes will be.” – Lucio Tan

The early part of last week was relatively taxing for me. An important project I was working on that wouldn’t have just helped me, but also CapricornCity.com fell through without warning. The end result of what should’ve been something beneficial didn’t pan out as I would’ve hoped and before I could even find a way to maybe fix it, the deal was scrapped. To say I was crestfallen would be an understatement. The man hours put into this project, only to see it be tossed aside and given the figurative heave-ho like someone putting it into a computer’s recycling bin and emptying said bin left me almost limp with remorse. Questioning yourself comes to the forefront of your mind. I’ve sacrificed so much stability and financial growth for the sake of a dream and the hope that one day everything will click in a major way. It’s hard not only physically, but also mentally. Yet, I, and so many others like me, press on because we simply have no other choice.

We have no other choice because the truth is we can’t just throw our hands up and call it day due to one, two or even fifty things not working out in our favor. We have to keep on because, in a lot of ways, it’s what sustains us and our dreams – the belief that everything will fall into if we don’t give up … eventually. But no matter how strong your faith is in the goal at hand, there are moments like what I went through last week that makes you question whether or not enough is enough. For some, that moment comes and they accept the reality of it all. For others, the cost of quitting proves to be too great. I haven’t hit that prior point; and I hope I never do.
