The Video Gamer’s Experience Interview – Chrissie Rios

In this next evolution of “The Video Gamer’s Experience” I turn to you, the gamer, to find out what makes you tick when it comes to this entertainment medium based on interactivity, technological boundaries being obliterated, and emotional moments shared by thousands of people across the globe. Today’s interviewee: Chrissie Rios.

What’s the first game you remember playing?

Man, is this gonna hardcore date me, but the first game I can remember playing was Space Invaders. I want to say, it was a couple weeks until the game room I played at brought Pac-Man in and then wow, I was so in love.

When did you realize you were a gamer?

Galaga. I spent all my money on that game. It was a drag me away, I am never ever leaving game. I still have to play it when I see it anywhere today. It was the beginning of everything for me in a gaming world.

Is there one story in your life that was directly impacted by a game?

WOW! I feel like my whole life has been one story or another that has been impacted directly by a game.

From playing Mortal Kombat as a kid to knowing that Midway Games made MK that led to a job offer I accepted there at Midway, even though I had a job offer for Playboy that was offering more money annually. Which then led to working on the TNA game and having met people that have become life long friends. Of course, doing voice work in games and getting a sweet IMDB page for voice work, even if many of my voice roles are not listed (Hmmpphhh IMDB, help a girl out, will ya?)

All of these things have greatly impacted my life and that of Kwinn Pop. It would be so hard to pick only one because, literally, gaming has impacted so much of my life.

What’s your favorite video game genre?

I do love FPS games even if I am awful at them (My KD is the worst) but I never get tired of them.

What’s your favorite video game franchise?

It has to be Mortal Kombat. For more reasons than just that it is the best damn fighting game of all time and it just keeps getting better, but, I am in it and how could I not love everything about that?!?!

Is there one game you’ve never had the chance to play that you regret not playing?

Hmmm, Metroid Prime. I really wanted to and it never happened.

What’s the best video game purchase you made?

The best was easily Call of Duty cause it has been a love affair that is still going strong.

I stood in line for 3 hours at E3 this past year just to play 10 mins of game play and had zero regrets. It was completely worth it.

What’s the worst video game purchase you made?

I want to say it was probably The Crow…it was so bad. Allow me to hang my head in shame.

What video game character do you most relate to?

I want to say Frost or Harley Quinn cause of the obvious factors. BUT, I would have to say, my created character in Diablo 3. She was a badass, that spun around in circles, and threw things aimlessly but they all stuck somehow. Plus, she had mad swag.

If a game based on you was made what would it be like?

It would be a fun, chaotic mix of magic, road rage and weirdness. It’s Mario Kart…it would be Mario Kart.

What are you playing now and what are you looking forward to playing in the near future?

Just picked up Destiny 2 and it has been fun. I am really enjoying it. I am looking forward to COD WWII, Cuphead, Forza Motorsport 7, WWE 2K18

Your desert island games?

Zelda, COD, MK, Injustice, Galaga – Do I get WiFi…NO? Hmmpphh

How can people keep up with everything you’re doing?

I can ALWAYS be found posting and tweeting away on Instagram and Twitter @TheKwinnBee and I am always doing doing something @KwinnPop on all the socials.
