The Young Bucks vs. Marty Jannetty & 1-2-3 Kid

Background: A year earlier, Marty Jannetty took The Young Bucks under his wing to lead them toward the Campeonatos de Parejas, but The Bucks changed into something Marty hated. During this time, Jannetty joined his old parnter 1-2-3 Kid to succcessfully gain two points in the 2012 King of Trios tag team guantlet and besting the Heart Throbs a few days later; thus earning a title shot here.

The Young Bucks vs. Marty Jannetty & 1-2-3 Kid

1st Fall: The “Original Rocker” Marty Jannetty kicked this one off with Matt Jackson. Marty was icing Matt in the early going thanks to his experienced grappling skills and the fans’ support until Matt’s agility got the better of Marty via an arm drag. Matt kept the pace high, leaving Marty on his back thanks to a flying back elbow. When Nick tagged in, he demanded to get a piece of Kid. Nick got what he asked for, but didn’t expect Kid to not only power through him, but also outmaneuver him by avoiding the broncobuster after being kicked in the head. Matt Jackson ran in, distracting the referee so he didn’t see Kid be kicked in the groin. Spike tombstone piledriver by the champions on Kid put an end to the first fall with the champions in the lead.

2nd Fall: Kid was seriously clutching his neck at the sound of the bell. Marty took it for his team, feeling a pair of super kicks from Matt after Kid rolled out of the ring so Jannetty could become the legal man. The champs had Marty reeling and isolated as the fans rallied behind Jannetty. Stereo super kicks from The Bucks dropped Marty, but they refused to go for the pin. Instead, they were looking for a spike tombstone on Marty. Thanks to some great timing, Kid yanked Nick off the rope before hitting the X-Factor and going for the pin on Matt to even this thing up.

3rd Fall: The Bucks were on the floor as the third fall began, giving Kid a chance to somersault on top of the champions. When Marty went for a dive off the top rope, The Bucks moved so Marty hit the parquet floor … hard! Kid was the next to feel the sting of avoidance as Nick propelled Kid groin first into the steel ring post to avoid a head scissors. The Bucks rolled Kid back. Matt worked over Kid in the ring as Nick beat Marty around ringside. Kid rallied to his feet thanks to the fans’ support, but simple, illegal actions like back rakes and right hands to the face dropped the former WWF Tag Team champion.

Necktie dropkick on Kid sent him to the floor so The Bucks could bring Marty in to do some more damage. The focus became Marty’s left arm as the champs slammed, kicked, and double stomped Jannetty’s appendage while they kept Marty near their side of the ring. Matt almost made a big mistake by going for Jannetty’s own Rocker Dropper. Marty reversed his own finisher, but not the turnbuckle power bomb. With the wherewithal to avoid the incoming Jacksons, Marty was able to find Kid while tossing the brothers into each other. Kid came in, throwing kicks like there was no tomorrow. Drop toe hold by Kid sent Nick head first into Matt’s groin to set up Kid’s broncobuster. Before Kid could go for the pin, Nick barely hit the springboard face buster. Nick placed Kid on the top rope, executing a super hurricarana for a two count. Nick took too much time posing on the top rope before going for the 450 splash. Nick flipped right into the X-Factor … for a near fall thanks to Matt’s interference!

Matt followed up with the slingshot apron DDT on Kid after Marty was knocked off the apron adjacent to them. Somehow, Kid kicked out of Nick’s follow up pin. Sadly for Kid, he couldn’t stop More Bang For Your Buck, being pinned by Matt seconds later.

Winner: The Young Bucks (23:28)

Is It A Classic: A very good, old school match mixed with standard Young Bucks flair. Kid took some sickening bumps, and delivered a few as well (that X-Factor, tho…). Not the most incredible thing seen in CHIKARA (especially that night), but fun nonetheless.
