Worse Than You

“The issue is not what you may be facing, rather your interpretation of it. Always think in a positive light to create a better world for yourself and others.” – Steven Redhead

The worries of the world are exponential at times. Those same worries can bog down our life’s happiness and joy. It’s understandable to look at and think about the problems of your life and think of them as the worst things possible. In our little world, nothing is more important than what’s going on in our lives. But there is more occurring in the world than just our problems; some are closer to home than we can or could imagine.

As someone who has seen the ravages of cancer take the life of a family member, witnessed those too sick to take care of themselves be dependent on the kindness of others for survival, and experienced secondhand the overall helplessness of advanced age, I know that the problems that seem to triumph over our daily routines – the same situations that can turn a good day into a glum one – are miniscule in comparison to those you love who suffer in silence. Those who put on a smile when you’re around to avoid you worrying for them, but cry every time you leave because the pain is too severe.

Though the minor problems we face might seem grandiose to us at that time, look at your own life and think about those who really suffered, but refused to let that same suffering steal the light and love in their hearts.
