Wrestling Life Lesson From Damien Sandow

Imitate someone successful to attain personal success

The Miz and Mizdow

In 2012, Damien Sandow entered the WWE ranks happily promoting his high intellectual status. The self-proclaimed “Enlightened One” and “Intellectual Savior of the (Unwashed) Masses” found his career faltering less than two years after his debut – eventually succumbing to a variety of losses that left him angry and displaced. Eventually, Sandow had an idea and began embracing his inner cosplay enthusiast. Dressing as the likes of Abraham Lincoln and his boss Vince McMahon, Sandow became rather popular amongst fans seeing a different side of the man who once made fun of them.

But no imitation worked better for Damien than his portrayal of The Miz after the former WWE champion’s return from filming “The Marine 4” – turning into Damien Mizdow, The Miz’s stunt double. More and more did Sandow become associated with good times, multiple segments on WWE television and, most importantly, victories. Though Sandow is currently in a rebuilding phase of his career, the future looks bright thanks to his time being someone other than himself. Sometimes it pays to embrace the traits of someone successful to reach your own potential. In the case of Damien Sandow, imitating men like LeBron James, Bruce Springsteen and, of course, fellow grappler The Miz gave him the ability to tap into his potential of being a winner. Have you reached your potential yet? If your answer is, “No,” then look toward the stars and do everything in your power to be just like them.
