Background: At SHIMMER Volume 26, Cheerleader Melissa and Wesna Busic waged war in one of the best matches in SHIMMER history. Unfortunately for Melissa, Wesna picked up the victory with a little help from Busic’s new manager, Annie Social. This rematch was contested under the rules where the winner could only attain victory by knockout or submission.

Cheerleader Melissa vs. Wesna Busic
Cheerleader Melissa threw the pompoms down immediately to tell Wesna Busic it’s on now! They opened up with a forearm exchange that spilled to the floor. Using the guardrails as her best friend, Melissa slammed and choked Wesna. Wesna reversed an Irish whip, sending Melissa abdomen first into barricades. “The Croatian Panther” wrapped Melissa’s left arm in the rail before kicking the rail into that arm. Wesna was using the railing and the ring post to work over Melissa’s limb. Melissa was able to kick Wesna off her feet. Melissa used every bit of strength she had to send Busic and the steel ring steps flying. When Wesna started to move, Melissa pushed and shoved the steps into Wesna’s side. Melissa’s advantage didn’t last long as Wesna hammerlocked Cheerleader’s left arm in the guardrails. Using her right elbow and a sick spin kick that slammed Wesna’s face into the railing downed Wesna for a couple of seconds. Melissa brought the action inside. Wesna quickly got out of Melissa’s grip, dropping all of her weight across Melissa’s arm with her leg drop. Melissa refused to give up as Busic tried to rip her arm from Cheerleader’s body. Melissa did everything in her power to avoid being trapped in a cross arm bar by clasping her hands. Busic seemed to be on the verge of accomplishing the submission when she gave up in hopes of knocking Melissa out. This proved detrimental as Melissa used her right arm to rock Wesna in position for a northern lariat. Melissa quickly hooked Wesna, executing the curb stomp. Wesna began to move before the ten count, causing Melissa to use another curb stomp. When the second curb stomp didn’t do the trick, Melissa hit two consecutive curb stomps, followed by a sick reverse curb stomp that saw Melissa stomp Wesna’s face from the elevated position. Somehow Wesna made it to her feet before the referee’s ten count.
Melissa hit the ropes for some momentum, but ran into a spin kick, followed by a hammerlock northern lights suplex. Melissa was softened up enough in Wesna’s opinion to go for the submission. Melissa was stuck in the cross arm bar in the middle of the ring. Melissa postured off the mat to avoid her arm being snapped, punching Busic’s face until she went lifeless. Annie Social had a concerned look on her face as Wesna struggled to move. Busic caught an incoming arm, spinning Melissa into another strike aimed at Cheerleader’s bum arm. Using the top rope to hook Melissa’s arm, Wesna forced her head against Cheerleader’s hurt appendage. Wesna scaled the ropes, only to get caught with several hard strikes aimed at her jaw. Super hurricarana from Melissa has the crowd on their feet. Melissa followed up with eat defeat, but it didn’t knock Wesna out.
Melissa tried to get some feeling back in that arm, but Wesna kicking it during a forearm exchange didn’t help matters. Melissa caught one of those kicks, tripping Wesna up after several forearms. As Busic fell, she threw her legs up, pulling Melissa down into a triangle choke. Instead of trying to choke Melissa out, Wesna released the submission to arm bar Melissa once again. Cheerleader Melissa was screaming out in pain. Once again, Melissa was able to posture up and unleash several strikes to free herself and almost knock Wesna out. Both women slowly rose, with Wesna running into air raid crash. Before the referee could begin his count, Annie jumped onto the apron. Melissa chased Social around ringside until Cheerleader noticed Wesna rising. Melissa charged, running into a couple of slams and a German suplex. Melissa showed her fighting spirit, shaking off the pain from the suplex before unleashing a Chuck Liddell circa 2004-like right hand. Melissa watched in anticipation as the referee’s count made it to eight. At nine, Wesna started to shift. Busic’s body couldn’t follow her mind, causing her to collapse to the mat; giving Melissa the KO victory.
Winner: Cheerleader Melissa (17:50)
Is It A Classic: This was a knockdown, drag-out war between two of SHIMMER’s best at the time. They really gave a great show an excellent main event that put this show a couple notches higher in comparison to a majority of the other Volumes up to that point.
