Kevin Steen vs. Adam Cole
And dey’s a clubberin’ in Ray-seed-a, Tony! Avoiding a wild belt swing with his own title belt, Steen kicked the middle rope into his challenger’s groin before beating him around ringside to the joy of everyone in attendance. Steen took great enjoyment in driving Cole testicles-first into all four steel ring posts. As if that wasn’t enough, “Mr. Wrestling” utilized not one, but four apron power bombs! “Kill, Steen, kill!” chants rang out as Steen retrieved several steel chairs and a trashcan from underneath the ring. Cole got plastered with not only the trashcan, but also the chair. Stopping a suplex across an open chair, Cole kicked the champ into a shining wizard where his knee was covered by the trashcan lid. Two trashcan shots to Steen’s head allowed the challenger to retrieve a ladder bash the champ’s back. Before Cole could whip Kevin Steen into the ladder no propped against the turnbuckles, “Mr. Wrestling” hoisted him into the air prior to pitching Cole back first against the steel!
Placing Cole between the ladder ends, Steen somersault leg dropped and senton splashed Cole in hopes of crushing the challenger as if he was a body of cheese. Cole smartly rolled out of the ring, catching the champ coming after him with another trashcan lid shot to the head. Cole searched and found another ladder to bring into the ring. Using the busted trashcan to stun Steen, Cole hit the ropes, only to run into a power bomb on the trashcan … for a near fall in favor of the champion!
The fans were solidly behind the champ (except that one fans who got cussed out by Steen for cheering in the challenger’s favor). Countering whatever Steen had in mind, Cole utilized his Panama Sunset brain buster before hitting the Attitude Adjustment across the two ladders Steen placed on top of each other … for a near fall of his own!
Taking too much time to recover and grab a ladder put Cole in a bad predicament. F5 on the ladder … gave Steen a two count!
“Mr. Wrestling” looked to power bomb Cole through several open chairs when the challenger bashed him in the face with the PWG Heavyweight title belt. Panama Sunset landed for Cole … only for the challenger to gain a two count!
Taking things to another level, the challenger took some chairs from the fans to create a pyramid of chairs in the ring. Cole wanted to superplex Steen through the chairs! Low blow by Steen stopped the attack and gave the champion a chance to northern light bomb Cole through the chairs … to attain a two count!
No one could believe what they had just seen. Steen made his way thorough the see of fans to retrieve a pitcher full of thumbtacks. Pouring some in his mouth, Steen spit the thumbtacks into Cole’s face. Adam responded with a super kick that allowed him to German suplex Steen onto the thumbtacks now on the mat. Florida Key landed for Cole … for the three count! We have a new PWG World Heavyweight champion!
Winner: Adam Cole (23:03)
Is It A Classic: What appeared to be an extended thrashing by the champion turned into one of the most barbaric displays seen in a PWG ring in a long time up to that point. Both wrestlers did a wonderful job building toward the biggest moments; perfectly heightening the senses to the point where Cole won the fans couldn’t believe what they had just witnessed. A fantastically brutal title bout worth your time.
