“ I wish people would love everybody else the way they love me. It would be a better world.” – Muhammad Ali
2016 has been a terrible year for fans of music and sports as celebrities who have transcended their original mediums of success have passed away – leaving behind not only a legacy both worth remembering and experiencing anew, but also admirers mourning over the fact a piece of what made their lives better is now gone from this world. Muhammad Ali’s passing is no different. The boxing great known for his exceptional speed and precision in the ring showcased a will and determination beyond reproach both as a boxer and as a human being. The former multi-time World’s Heavyweight champion rose awareness for Parkinson’s syndrome, bucked the system when standing up for his beliefs in regards to war, and even negotiated with Saddam Hussein to save imprisoned Americans.
Ali’s “gift of gab” made him an undeniable revolutionist when it came to promoting fights. But after hanging up the gloves, Ali continued using his mouth to help others while providing quotable gems including the one above. Muhammad Ali didn’t just talk a big game – “The Greatest” lived every word he spoke to the best of his abilities. It’s almost impossible through sheer human nature to accomplish such a grand feat he proposed in regards to a grand spreading of love, but if we could express the same love, admiration and overall appreciation for the people around us and beyond like we have for Muhammad Ali the world would be a truly wonderful place.
