Personal Evolution Wrestling Life Lesson

Personal Evolution Comes with Costume Changes

Life is about change. We’re born, grow, learn, hopefully become stronger, better people as the years progress and eventually turn in responsible individuals who can take care of themselves and others. In pro wrestling, personal evolution is turned up a notch and can actually be simplified by easily changing one’s clothes. Most recently, “The Big Red Monster” Kane – known for having fire manipulation powers, being homicidal in nature, and a rapist (no exaggeration) – returned to WWE television after spending the past year wearing a suit and turning into a levelheaded (by wrestling’s standards) corporate stooge for Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Kane used to wear a red mask that apparently changed his mentality, turning him into “Demon Kane” – the same type of evil (or lesser of two evils), powerful person mentioned earlier.

But Kane isn’t the only individual in wrestling that has transformed thanks to a costume change (also not the only instance when Kane’s character change correlated with an attire replacement). NXT’s Finn Balor (the former Prince Devitt) also embraces his “inner demon” by painting himself to look like a mishmash of “Venom” and “Carnage” from Marvel Comics. A few years ago, TNA’s Eric Young was a man full of fear to the point even the pyrotechnics used for his entrance would scare him. Donning a mask and a cape, Young would find some hidden inner strength, becoming “Super Eric” (which was just what it reads like). The Undertaker, Abyss, Cody Rhodes, and so many others in wrestling have evolved and found something powerful lurking deep inside them through a costume change.

So if you want to discover your inner strength (or demon) find some body paint, a mask or even someone’s “Hall of Fame” ring and wear it. Your transformation into something truly formidable will be as complete as it is almost immediate and fearsome.
