Immortality

“What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.” – Albert Pike

The quest to live forever is a frivolous venture that will only pay off in worry and disappointment. With your eyes set on yourself throughout your lifetime cannot and will not leave you satisfied with the life you’ve lived. In the end, true immortality comes in the people you meet, interact with, and love. It’s the homeless individual you gave a dollar to that might’ve used that piece of paper to finally take that next step to a better life. It’s the friend you lend an ear to so he or she can let the world’s problems slide away. It’s the family member or loved one that’s suffering, and only you can get through their defenses to save them. Only through selflessness and love do you truly attain immortality in this world.
