Not Insignificant

“A man said to the universe: ‘Sir, I exist!’
‘However,’ replied the universe.” – Stephen Crane

For many, sitting in a classroom, listening and learning about history and the figures that shaped the way the world is today can create a feeling of disappointment. The reason for this feeling is simple: for a small stretch of time valiant individuals did something to better the world. It becomes almost overwhelming to believe that we can do anything close to the magnitude of history’s greatest. But there is a chance to accomplish that goal.

Like the courageous men and women before us, the journey to actually make something of yourself and help add to the world in a positive manner takes nothing more than the realization that a single person (a.k.a. “You”) can make a difference. With that understanding, you’ll be able to take that next step and become more than just a part of the world. Instead, you’ll stand in the forefront as an individual doing what many claim they would or could do, only to sit and watch from afar.

Though our existences are nothing more than a speck in the vastness of time, our ability to help shape the world in a positive way isn’t hindered by the expansiveness of time, but our own ability.
